TV Presenter, Model and Fashion influencer, Elias is certainly a busy guy. A complete style icon in his own right, reflected in the attention to detail and individuality of his fits. He is known as Astroboy for his futuristic outfits and highlighter colour palette.
With the colossal growth of the streetwear industry over the last decade, Elias was inspired to make cult TV show PAQ with 3 other friends.
“PAQ is basically Top Gear, but with clothes instead of cars,”
What makes PAQ popular (and it is popular, its youtube following is in the hundreds of thousands with episodes breaking the view 1M view mark), is its inclusivity. It discusses mens fashion and style without any kind of judgment. It’s not boujee or snobby. As he says “its only garments, it’s only fabrics and there shouldn’t be such a culture where people are snobby or they look down at people” As you watch you really get a feeling of family and community.
“its only garments, it’s only fabrics and there shouldn’t be such a culture where people are snobby or they look down at people”
Though their shows are peppered with bloopers and retakes that give each episode that personal touch, Elias is the last person to get frustrated . Instead he is all about positivity.
“As long as you’re positive and you keep being happy and manifesting great things everything will come to you. Your going to have your downs but to have your downs you’ve got to have your ups, you know what I mean”
Elias’s story echos this. Originally starting out in musical theater back in single digits, he got a taste for the energy of performing that is so evident in his presenting today.
After school he knew that uni wasn’t for him, really wanting to work in film he spent months looking for internships, when he eventually found one he schlepped for hours from North London (Watford – Zone 9) everyday to south London to apprentice in videography.
Using the knowledge gained from both these angles, he eventually landed a presenting role for Pause Magazine. This was the perfect fit as it allowed him to mix his energy and knowledge of the industry with his taste for fashion that started from an early age.
“Back in school I realized I was into fashion when it was non-school uniform day – they were the most exciting days for me. This is the day for me to express myself, plan my outfit, so that was basically my first love for fashion”
When looking at his positive route though life, bringing together skills from different sides of the industry, the forming of PAQ seem more of an inevitability than chance. As he says it’s all about finding an outlet to best expressing yourself.
“I think expressing yourself is one of the most important things you can do in this world. Expressing yourself is so important and for me, I didn’t draw, I didn’t write. I don’t do music, I had no sort of way to express myself. So the only way I found myself being expressed was through fashion”
Through PAQ, not only is Elias expressing his own fire fashion, he is doing it in a way that doesn’t intimidate.
When it comes to style, Elias words echo that sentiment
“You wear the clothes, don’t let the clothes wear you”
